This is ~technically~ our month, so I thought offering a few costume-forward events going on this October, might help inspire you to get into the season (if you're not already there)!
If you'd prefer to give a listen, I had the pleasure of joining Nikki DaVaughn and Eva Moravec on their pod "City Cast," where we talked all things October... The lack of seasonal weather and predictive costumes were also discussed!
My (very incomplete) list...
Friday, Oct. 10th: Elfsong Tavern at the Tiny Minotaur
Costumes are mandatory at this High Fantasy Ball!
Sunday, Oct 12th: Little Gay Shop of Horrors
Local market with 90+ vendors AND a doggie costume contest! Hosted by Brigitte Bandit.
Monday, Oct 13th 9:30pm @ Oilcan Harry's: Love and War
Local up-and coming Drag Queens (including our very own Impulse Purchase) will be competing in this weekly event! Every Monday, beginning Oct. 13th.
Saturday, Oct. 18th: Samhain Market at The Herb Bar, 6-10pm
Support your local witches! Herbalists, Tarot Readers, and Autumnal Magic!
Sunday, Oct 19th: Our 10th Annual Vintage + Handmade Costume Yard Sale
This is our favorite event of the year, and we'd love to see you there! Some of Austin's most talented costumers will be taking over our parking lot. Find unique pieces, one of a kind headdresses, and you know we'll have all the wigs and makeup to tie it all together!
Sunday Oct. 19th: Fire Cider Workshop at Ace of Cups
After shopping our costume sale, bop on down to our neighbors at Ace of Cups to make your own immunity-boosting elixir! Make sure to purchase your tix in advance.
Saturday Oct 25th- Viva La Vida Fest at Mexic-Arte Museum 12-6pm
Celebrate Day of the Dead with a grand procession downtown. Performances, local food, low-riders, and vendors abound!
Trunk or Treat 1616 Willow St (behind Mission Funeral Homes)
Our neighbors are handing out candy...from the trunks of their low-riders! East Austin car clubs are "Cruisin' for Candy" - all ages fun times.
Saturday Oct 25th- Clash of the Titans themed Halloween Parade 7:30pm
Join Krewe of Bats and the Dead Music Capital Band for their annual Halloween parade through East Austin. Line up at PanAm Park.
And now I feel like there should be the most amazing blow-your-mind Halloween day event, because our holiday is on a Friday this year!! And yet... and yet? I haven't gotten the invite. Who's hosting?
